Not long ago, I was flipping through the channels of the TV when I came across a movie. It starred Ben Stiller, so I thought it would be funny, so I began to watch. The movie was on regular TV, so I assumed the program would be free of foul language. I must say, I was very surprised at what I found. There was an attempt at censorship, but the part that should have been cut out, was still there.
Exodus 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
One of the words it suppressed was the word “Retard.” When it was time for that word, it was bleeped out and replaced with the word “Special”. I do not wish to offend anyone, so if using the word “Special” is preferred or is politically correct, then I feel it should be used. The problem I have with the censoring of this movie is that while they altered that word, they did not do away with the worst word of all. All through the movie, they allowed the characters, without censorship, to take the Lord’s name in vain.

What does this say about a culture that deems it ok to allow the Lord’s name to be taken in vain and then be publicized? This should be a wake up call to all born again Christians. The United States has become a lost nation. This country no longer respects God or His ways. The Ten Commandments have been taken out of government buildings, prayer has been removed from school and the Lord’s name can be taken in vain and displayed on public television. Society is teaching that taking the Lord’s name in vain is not only common but acceptable.
I have news for all those that feel it is acceptable to take the Lord’s name in vain. This nation interprets freedom of speech and freedom of expression as being able to say and do something that God has commanded us not to do. This nation is wrong. God has blessed us to be a free nation, able to serve and worship Him without restraint. We have taken that freedom and become slaves to sin. With all choices that are made comes with a consequence. I hope and pray people realize this before it is too late.
